Translation

(English-Afrikaans and Afrikaans-English)

Translation is more than just taking a piece of writing and converting it into another language, word by word. It’s about steering clear of direct (often incorrect) translations and knowing both languages well enough to be able to find exactly the right equivalent for a word, phrase or idea.

Afrikaans is my home language, however having grown up in a multi-lingual society, I’ve learnt to speak English from a very young age. I attended an Afrikaans primary school and high school, however I completed my tertiary education in English. This balance equips me with a great understanding of both languages, allowing me to effectively translate text from English to Afrikaans and vice versa.
